In Part 1, I established a working definition for resolution. A resolution is a firm decision to do or not do something that is predicated on an important felt need.
Today, I would like to address what constitutes an “important felt need”. What I mean by important is intrusive. It invades the person’s comfort. It gnaws on their conscience. As I said yesterday, If it did not aggravate them, then they would not change it.
This next point is a bit redundant, but I want to show a relationship. The need must be felt. The person with the need must be aware of it. They must see a fault in their actions for the need to be a need. If a person sees nothing wrong with laziness, even it is a problem, they will not try to correct it.
This is why a person must continually be in the Word of God. Our consciences are faulty and must be informed by the Word of God. An uninformed conscience will justify wrong things.
